A Highly Specialized Software Hiring Success Story

When an unexpected work permit issue disrupted a placement, Altis helped the client get back on track and successfully fill a highly specialized Senior Software Developer position.
A global geoscience technology company was looking for a Senior Software Developer with a rare combination of technical expertise and industry-specific experience.
From the outset, the search was expected to be challenging. The talent pool was limited, competition for qualified professionals was high, and the role required a very specific skill set.
After an extensive search, a strong candidate was identified and selected. However, just before their start date, an unforeseen work permit issue prevented the hire from moving forward.
The client was back at square one with a critical role still open and business priorities that couldn't be put on hold.
Rather than restarting from scratch, we built on everything we had learned during the initial search.
We reviewed current market conditions, refined our sourcing strategy and focused our efforts on identifying additional candidates with the right combination of technical skills, experience and long-term fit.
Over the course of the search, our team conducted more than 235 targeted outreach conversations through LinkedIn, professional networks and our proprietary candidate database. The goal wasn't volume. It was finding the right people in a highly specialized market.
Throughout the process, we stayed closely connected with the client team, sharing market insights, providing regular updates and helping shape the interview process based on what we were seeing from candidates.
By the end of the search, we had presented 29 qualified candidates and coordinated 17 client interviews, giving the organization a strong view of a very competitive talent market.
Not every search follows a straight path. Sometimes circumstances change, candidates become unavailable or unexpected challenges arise.
What matters is having a partner who stays engaged, adapts quickly and remains committed to finding the right solution.
That's where experience, persistence and strong relationships make all the difference.
